Pond Watchers

Two young explorers arrived on their bicycles today for a visit to Frog Song Pond. Since I now have my very first copy of my new book, Mystery Vine, we took it along to the treehouse. Sam and Vick-- the first kids I have read this book to!--enjoyed the story and plan to make a bean teepee in their garden next year.

After the boys left, I came across this little fellow --perhaps composing poetry while gazing out across the water.

How I envy Sam and Vick. I do hope I'll get to visit your pond someday. A bean teepee sounds great. I can still remember picking the green beans in the garden across the street from the farmhouse I grew up in on Longfellow Road in Gorham. My mother would rinse them, put them in the pressure cooker, and in minutes we'd be feasting on bright green beans with some -probably margarine- who knew it was worse for you than butter.
It's been so hot in CT I haven't been able to sit by my pond, but there is a bit of a breeze today, so I'm going to give it a try. I just ordered Turtle Splash and your frog book from Amazon last evening. I can't wait to get them. I just adore your illustrations.
